8. Forever Is Cracked
Rain in the desert, wrinkles in time
A future of never, diamonds for wine
Lava for breakfast, sand on the bread
Rain in the desert, forever is cracked
Blossom in winter, a flower of stone
Snowflakes in summer, the sea as your home
Caresses for punishment, stones for a bed
Rain in the desert, forever is cracked
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not;
and shall ascend out of the abyss, and go into perdition:
and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder,
when they behold the beast that was, and is not,
and yet is.
A young girl a killer, love from a witch
A black dog a lover, a white dog a bitch
Sweet lilies for poison, a bitter root checked
It rains in the desert, forever is cracked
White curtains for mourning, the dead walk around
The deaf they are speaking not making a sound
Naked on snow and a dawn full of dread
But rain in the desert, forever is cracked.
Feet on the ground but nobody stands
A world full of children but where are the man?
A wolf goes around and a saviour was hanged
But rain in the desert, forever is cracked
The bird flies around with its sharp eagle eyes
And it picks up your fear as you put up a fight
But wherever you run and wherever you hide
You still want to surrender and stand in the light
